Village Players Professional Training Center
Village Players currently offers a series of Master Classes for the professional actor. It requires that the student already have a number of tools in their acting belt. We require that a student applying for this class have prior training or performance experience. It is a mixed levels class of intermediate to advanced students. To maintain the integrity of the class – an audition is required.
In the past we have offered Masters classes in both New American Classics and a specific class covering the work of David Mamet and Clifford Odets. Monologue work is covered in the class as well as ensemble work, technique and professional standards. Master Classes are taught by VPT Artistic Director, Dan Taube, as well as other associates of the theatre. Dan is a Chicago Theatre veteran having worked as an Actor and Director with such Chicago companies as Trap Door Theatre, Circle Theatre, Signal Ensemble, Mary-Arrchie, Prop Theatre and Irish Rep, among many others. Dan has 15 years teaching experience as adjunct faculty at DePaul University's The Theatre School, head of the Directing Program at Act One Studios as well as Artistic Director of Chicago Styles Workshop - a acting workshop devoted to the training and study of different acting styles from Shakespeare and Moliere to Mamet and Shepard.
